Critical Issues in Marketing

2018 is a critical year for marketing and key issues marketers face that weren’t imagined in 2017 and it’s all about disruption!

Facebook’s data breaches of almost 100 million customers; cyber hacking in Japan which cost a company more than $630 million USD in losses; online fraud which cost online merchants over $58 billion USD in 2017; intellectual property fraud which is estimated at over $600 billion USD; platform dominance – are Facebook, Google and YouTube too big and why they can’t stop consumer fraud on their platforms; and  “are ad agencies dying? since consulting companies and Facebook and Google are working directly with clients and bypassing agencies.

M2 is planning a three-part series in May, June and August to explore these issues in cooperation with Vietnam Marcom and the Vietnam Marketing Association.

Yee Chung Seck
Partner, Baker & McKenzie Vietnam

Yee Chung Seck is a Partner at Baker & McKenzie law firm, one of the leading law firms in Vietnam. Chung leads the Firm's Mergers & Acquisitions, TMT, Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Practices in Vietnam.

Chamber Asia has ranked Chung as the leading lawyer in the field of Corporate/M&A in Vietnam from 2010 ~ 2018 and he has been recognised as a leading and highly regarded lawyer in the M&A practice in Vietnam by IFLR1000 (from 2015 to 2018) and a leading lawyer for TMT practice in Vietnam by Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2015).

Chung is a member of the Singapore Bar Association and serves as Vice-president of the Singapore Business Group in Vietnam. He also serves as the Co-chairman of the American Chamber in Vietnam’s Information & Communications Technology committee.

Pravin Shetty
Vice President - APAC, POKKT

Pravin Shetty is the Vice President - APAC for POKKT, a top mobile video advertising platform in India & Southeast Asia that focuses on rewarded Video Ads within Mobile Games. POKKT is integrated with over 300 Top Games and App Developers and has a reach of over 100 million unique users in the region.

Prior to working with POKKT, Pravin worked at Mindshare Vietnam as Partner - Client Leader. He has almost 20 years of media experience across functions of leadership, client servicing, planning and investment strategy. He is skilled in leading large account teams with talent, product and service development at the core.

Pravin has a Masters of Commerce from the University of Mumbai and also a Masters in Marketing Management from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. He has lived in Vietnam since 2012 and is active in Vietnam’s marketing and media community.

Oliver Woods
Director of Digital & Social Strategy, Red2 Digital

Oliver Woods is an award winning (Agency of the Year, Cannes, Effies, IAB, Kancils) advertising and brand strategy expert with more than 10 years of experience, developing business, creating strategies and leading teams in Asia-Pacific.

Oliver started his career in 2007, becoming one of New Zealand’s first social media consultants and has been based in Southeast-Asia since 2009. He has worked with M&C Saatchi in Kuala Lumpur as a Strategic Planner and then Leo Burnett (Kuala Lumpur) as Social Media Director, before relocating to Ho Chi Minh City in 2016 to become Director of Digital & Social Strategy at Red2 Digital.

Jason Woolley
Chief Digital Officer, KPMG Vietnam

Jason Woolley is the Chief Digital Officer of KPMG in Vietnam and regularly experiences digital transformation, at great personal cost, each time a new piece of shiny technology is released. Growing up at a time when there was an expectation we would be living a futuristic life of ease by now, where robots took care of all the manual labour, he is committed to challenging the poor technology implementations that have held up this dream.

As Chief Digital Officer for KPMG Vietnam, he is responsible for digital initiatives across the service lines, and also brings experience of digital marketing, internet, and communications technologies to client projects.

Prior to joining KPMG, Jason worked for Knorex, a performance-focused digital marketing agency in Singapore. He has also worked for Group M in Singapore as Director of Search Operations in Asia Pacific and Group M in Vietnam as General Manager for Connect at Group M. He has lived off and on in Vietnam since 2015.
